Local Entrepreneur Makes Millions Selling Dehydrated Water to Californians During Drought

SACRAMENTO, CA — Local businessman Marcus Flintwater has reportedly earned over $3.2 million in the past six months selling dehydrated water to drought-conscious Californians, claiming his product offers a more sustainable and portable solution to traditional liquid water.

Flintwater's company, AquaDry Solutions, markets small packets of what appears to be absolutely nothing as "premium dehydrated H2O crystals" that can be instantly rehydrated by adding regular water. The product, which retails for $24.99 per 12-pack, has become wildly popular among Silicon Valley executives and yoga enthusiasts throughout the Bay Area.

"Traditional water is so heavy and inefficient," explained Flintwater, 34, while standing in his newly purchased Tesla showroom. "Our dehydrated water removes all that unnecessary bulk while maintaining 100% of the wetness potential. It's basic chemistry."

Customer testimonials on the company's website rave about the product's convenience and environmental benefits. "I can carry enough dehydrated water for a whole week in just my pocket," wrote verified purchaser Jennifer Whitman of Palo Alto. "Plus, knowing that I'm reducing my liquid water footprint makes me feel so much better about my impact on the drought."

Dr. Patricia Flowstein, a hydrologist at UC Davis, expressed bewilderment at the product's success. "I've examined their packets extensively, and they appear to contain nothing but air," said Flowstein. "When customers add water to 'rehydrate' the product, they're literally just adding water to water. It's the most elaborate placebo effect I've witnessed in 20 years of water research."

Despite scientific skepticism, AquaDry Solutions has expanded into neighboring states and recently secured $15 million in venture capital funding. The company's Series A round was led by prominent investor Chad Moneybags, who called dehydrated water "the disruption the beverage industry desperately needs."

"Marcus has identified a clear pain point in the market," Moneybags explained during a press conference held at his Marin County estate. "Water is wet, heavy, and frankly outdated. AquaDry represents the future of hydration technology."

Flintwater plans to use the new funding to develop additional products, including dehydrated ice cubes and what he describes as "gluten-free steam." The company also announced partnerships with several high-end restaurants in Los Angeles, where dehydrated water cocktails are expected to debut next month.

When pressed about critics who claim his product is literally nothing sold at premium prices, Flintwater remained confident. "That's exactly the kind of traditional thinking that's holding back innovation," he said. "Our customers understand that they're not just buying dehydrated water—they're buying into a more efficient future."

AquaDry Solutions' stock price has risen 340% since going public last week.
