Area Mom Who 'Just Wanted The Kids To Have A Good Time' Somehow Receives 35-Year Prison Sentence

FRESNO, CA — Insisting she was 'literally just trying to make sure the kids felt included,' local mother and self-described 'vibe curator' Karen Bacchanalia, 47, was sentenced Thursday to 35 years in state prison after a California court determined that, upon reflection, her approach to hosting 'enrichment gatherings' for area teens was, legally speaking, 'extremely bad and very illegal.'
Bacchanalia, who had maintained a Yelp page for her home rated 4.2 stars with reviews praising the 'chill atmosphere' and 'surprisingly good charcuterie board,' appeared genuinely baffled throughout the sentencing, repeatedly asking her attorney whether the jury had understood that she had 'put out really nice throw pillows.'
'I just feel like people are being very judgmental,' Bacchanalia said in a statement read aloud by her lawyer, pausing to note that 'other moms literally never volunteer for anything.'
The sentencing came after a dramatic courtroom confrontation in which victims addressed Bacchanalia directly, an event the defendant later described on a handwritten note passed to reporters as 'honestly so awkward and unnecessary.'
Judge Patricia Holloway, delivering the sentence, noted that the court had considered Bacchanalia's argument that she was 'basically a community center' but had ultimately found it 'unpersuasive, disturbing, and something I will be thinking about for the rest of my life.'
Neighbors expressed mixed reactions, with several admitting they had always found it 'a little weird' that Bacchanalia's driveway was perpetually full of bicycles at 2 a.m., but had ultimately chalked it up to her being 'really into neighborhood watch, but like, backwards.'
At press time, Bacchanalia had reportedly already begun organizing a 'really fun' orientation gathering for her fellow inmates and was asking around about whether anyone had a good speaker system she could borrow.
