Carlos Vela Accidentally Becomes LAFC Owner After Confusing 'Investment' with 'Investing in Better Parking'

LOS ANGELES — In what team officials are calling "the most expensive parking arrangement in MLS history," former LAFC forward Carlos Vela has become a minority owner of the club after a spectacular misunderstanding involving legal documents and his legendary hatred of walking long distances.
According to sources close to the situation, Vela approached LAFC management last month complaining that visiting the team's training facility required him to park "unreasonably far" from the entrance — specifically, 47 steps, which Vela's representatives described as "basically a marathon."
"Carlos just wanted a closer parking spot," explained his agent, Roberto Martinez. "When they handed him papers to sign, he assumed it was some kind of premium parking membership. He didn't read the fine print because, and I quote, 'reading is cardio for your eyes.'"
The mix-up became apparent during Vela's first ownership meeting, where he repeatedly asked when they would discuss "painting his name on the asphalt" and whether his parking space would include a small refrigerator for post-practice snacks.
"We tried to explain that he now owns 3.7% of a professional soccer franchise worth hundreds of millions," said LAFC co-president Larry Freedman. "He just nodded and asked if that meant he could install a golf cart path from his parking spot to the locker room."
Vela, who scored 85 goals during his LAFC playing career, has already proposed his first executive decision: replacing the team's fitness regimen with "strategic energy conservation" and mandatory nap time between training drills.
"If I'm an owner now, we're doing things the efficient way," Vela announced at a hastily arranged press conference held entirely from his car. "Why run for 90 minutes when you can score in the first five and then manage your energy wisely?"
LAFC fans have responded positively to the news, with season ticket holder Maria Gonzalez noting, "Honestly, Carlos's approach to minimal effort for maximum results is exactly the kind of business philosophy we need in ownership."
When asked about his long-term vision for the club, Vela simply pointed to his newly installed reclining driver's seat and said, "This, but for soccer."
