MILLBROOK — Local officials are declining to elaborate, deepen, or in any way supplement the remarks delivered Tuesday by Greater Millbrook Recreational Lacrosse Federation Commissioner Dale Prout during what has since been described by attendees as 'a forty-minute all-hands meeting that could have been a trophy engraved with the words nothing has changed.'

The all-hands, held in the banquet room of a Courtyard Marriott off Route 9, was called to order at 6:15 p.m. following several weeks of speculation about the league's future direction. Commissioner Prout opened the meeting by welcoming everyone to the meeting, then confirmed that the meeting everyone had gathered for was, in fact, the meeting they were currently attending.

'I just want to start by saying thank you all for being here,' Prout said, according to seven attendees who each recalled the opening line with an expression they described as 'vacant.' 'This is a really exciting time for lacrosse, and I think what we're going to share tonight reflects where we are as an organization in terms of where we currently are.'

Slide two of the seventeen-slide presentation confirmed that the 2025 season would begin in the spring, which league officials noted is when the spring season has historically begun. Slide three featured a photo of a lacrosse stick with the caption 'Moving Forward,' though the stick was not moving and was, by all accounts, stationary.

'There are a lot of questions in this room tonight, and I want to honor those questions,' Prout continued, before opening the floor to questions at 6:52 p.m. and then closing the floor to questions at 6:53 p.m. after receiving one question he described as 'a great one' before confirming that the answer would be shared in a follow-up email that sources say has not arrived.

Local officials convened Wednesday morning and issued a one-page statement confirming that they had reviewed the events of Tuesday evening and had reached no conclusions that they were prepared to share with the public or each other.

'At this time, we are not in a position to confirm or expand upon anything that was or was not communicated during the all-hands event,' said Deputy Coordinator of Regional Athletic Governance Terri Schofield, reading from the statement into a microphone that had not been tested before the press conference and produced a sound she described as 'present.'

Organizational communication analysts reached by phone were not surprised.

'What you're seeing here is a classic synergy vacuum,' said Dr. Mitch Feldner, a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Applied Corporate Idiom who has studied all-hands meeting outcomes for eleven years. 'The organization has successfully communicated the act of communicating without completing any of the underlying communication. It's elegant, really. In a profoundly demoralizing way.'

Feldner added that slide seven, which contained a pie chart with unlabeled segments, represented what he called 'the most honest moment of the evening,' noting that the chart appeared to show something dividing into portions, which he described as 'accurate, visually, as a description of a pie chart existing.'

Parents who attended the meeting left with printed agendas, a lanyard nobody requested, and the understanding that registration fees, game schedules, and coaching assignments would all be 'finalized soon,' a timeline officials confirmed is measured in units that remain unspecified.

As of press time, Commissioner Prout has announced a follow-up all-hands meeting to address questions raised during Tuesday's all-hands meeting. The follow-up meeting is scheduled for a date that will be confirmed via the same email thread that has not yet produced the previous email. Officials say attendance will be appreciated but is technically optional, which three separate coaches interpreted as mandatory.

'I'm going,' said one parent who did not wish to be named. 'I don't know why. I know nothing will happen. But I feel like if I don't go, something will happen, and it will somehow be about me.'
