LaGuardia Airport Fire Truck Declares Victory in Ongoing Turf War with Aviation Industry

NEW YORK - In what airport officials are calling a decisive victory in the long-simmering conflict between ground vehicles and aircraft, LaGuardia Airport Fire Truck Unit #47 successfully asserted its dominance over Runway 4 yesterday by engaging in direct combat with an Air Canada passenger plane.

The fire truck, affectionately known as 'Big Red' by maintenance staff, had reportedly grown increasingly frustrated with planes constantly using what it considered to be its personal driveway. "That truck has been territorial about that runway for months," said airport ground crew chief Martha Hendricks. "We kept finding tire marks where it would do donuts at 3 AM, like it was marking its territory."

Witnesses report that Big Red appeared to be lying in wait near the runway, possibly having studied flight schedules to plan the perfect ambush. "It came out of nowhere," said passenger Jenny Morrison. "One minute we're landing normally, the next minute this fire truck is charging at us like we owed it money."

The Air Canada flight crew, early in their careers and apparently unfamiliar with LaGuardia's complex vehicle-aircraft territorial agreements, failed to properly yield to the fire truck's right of way. Airport veterans say this was a rookie mistake that could have been avoided with proper education about local ground vehicle hierarchies.

"New pilots always think they own the sky and everything below it," explained retired pilot Chuck Weatherby. "But LaGuardia belongs to the trucks now. Everyone knows that. You've got to negotiate safe passage with the baggage carts, pay tribute to the fuel trucks, and whatever you do, don't make eye contact with the snow plows."

LaGuardia officials announced they will be installing new signage reading "FIRE TRUCK CROSSING - AIRCRAFT YIELD" and implementing a formal treaty system between all airport vehicles and incoming flights. Big Red was unavailable for comment but was seen doing celebratory burnouts near Gate B6.
