Local Emergency Room Waiting Area Achieves Historic Medical Milestone by Contracting Every Disease Simultaneously

OREGON CITY, OR - Health officials announced Tuesday that the emergency department waiting room at Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center has achieved what medical experts are calling 'Peak Waiting Room Status' by successfully harboring every known human disease simultaneously.

The historic milestone was reached last Thursday when a patient with measles joined the existing collection of ailments that already included three different flu strains, norovirus, two cases of pink eye, someone's mysterious rash, and whatever that guy in the corner has been coughing up for the past six hours.

'We're incredibly proud of this achievement,' said Dr. Margaret Wellness, the facility's Chief of Infectious Diseases. 'Most waiting rooms can only manage 15-20 different contagious conditions at once, but our staff has worked tirelessly to create an environment where literally any pathogen can thrive.'

The waiting room's success has been attributed to several key factors: magazines dating back to 1987 that have been touched by approximately 45,000 sick people, chairs with mysterious stains that defy scientific analysis, and a children's play area that researchers describe as 'basically a petri dish shaped like a jungle gym.'

Local epidemiologist Dr. Robert Quarantine noted that the waiting room has become so medically diverse that it's actually started generating new hybrid diseases. 'We've documented at least three novel virus combinations that appear to have emerged spontaneously from the carpet alone,' he explained while adjusting his hazmat suit.

The medical center plans to capitalize on this achievement by offering guided tours for medical students and selling commemorative test tubes filled with air samples from the waiting room for $29.99 each.
