Marvel Announces New Superhero Whose Only Power Is Being Extremely Good At Parallel Parking

LOS ANGELES — In what industry insiders are calling 'the boldest creative decision since Thor's haircut,' Marvel Studios officially announced Monday the addition of their newest superhero to the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Parallelax, a mild-mannered accountant from Akron, Ohio, whose sole superpower is his supernatural ability to parallel park any vehicle, in any conditions, on the first attempt, every single time.
The character, whose real name is Dennis Purcell, 41, received his abilities after being struck by lightning while reading a 1997 copy of the Ohio Driver's Manual outside a DMV. He can now park a full-size Chevy Suburban in a space previously described by engineers as 'geometrically impossible' while maintaining a completely calm demeanor and never once tapping the bumper of the car behind him.
'Dennis represents something we haven't seen before in superhero cinema,' said Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige at a press conference held, appropriately, in a parking garage. 'He's not fighting Thanos. He's not saving the multiverse. He's just absolutely nailing a tight spot on a busy Saturday afternoon in downtown Chicago, and honestly, that feels more heroic to me personally.'
The announcement was met with immediate enthusiasm from the entertainment community, though some critics questioned whether the power set was broad enough to carry a full franchise.
'With all due respect, I've been studying superhuman abilities for thirty years, and I've never encountered a skill set that fills me with this level of genuine, existential envy,' said Dr. Patricia Holloway, a professor of Theoretical Metahuman Studies at the University of Southern California who we want to be very clear is not a real academic position. 'The man doesn't even turn on his hazard lights while doing it. That's not a superpower. That's a god.'
The debut film, tentatively titled 'Parallelax: There's Actually Plenty of Room, You Just Have to Commit,' will follow Dennis as he is recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D. after a viral video shows him parking a city bus between a food truck and a fire hydrant during a rainstorm while eating a sandwich with his other hand.
Sources close to the production confirm the film's climactic final act will feature a seventeen-minute sequence in which Parallelax must park Nick Fury's flying aircraft carrier in a residential neighborhood in Boston during a Red Sox game, a scene that test audiences reportedly found 'more suspenseful than anything in the Infinity Saga.'
The studio has also confirmed a Disney+ spinoff series exploring Parallelax's origin story, a prequel about the time Dennis parallel parked in San Francisco on a hill during a light drizzle without using the curb, which Marvel is describing as 'too intense for theatrical release.'
Parallelax is scheduled to appear in theaters May 2026. Valet parking will not be available.
