Russian Drone Apologizes For 'Popping By Unannounced' After Crashing Into Romanian Apartment Building, Leaves Passive-Aggressive Note

BUCHAREST, ROMANIA — A Russian drone caused significant damage and injuries to a Romanian apartment block Tuesday after what Kremlin officials are calling a 'totally unplanned social visit' that 'got a little out of hand.'

The drone, which neighbors say had been 'acting weird and hovering around the complex for weeks,' finally made its move around 3 PM local time, smashing through the third floor of the building with what eyewitnesses described as 'the energy of someone who absolutely refuses to use Google Maps.'

Residents reported that moments before impact, the drone briefly deployed a small banner reading 'Sorry, wrong coordinates, my bad 😬' before immediately disproving that claim by hitting the building anyway.

'It seemed confused,' said local resident Gheorghe Popescu, 47, who was eating lunch when the drone arrived uninvited. 'But also very committed. Like a man who has driven four hours to the wrong wedding and decides to just attend it anyway.'

NATO responded swiftly, scrambling an undisclosed number of fighter jets primarily tasked with flying alongside the wreckage and asking it, repeatedly, what it thought it was doing. Sources inside NATO described the jets as 'deeply disappointed' in the drone's behavior.

'We have protocols for this,' said a NATO spokesperson, rubbing his temples at a press conference. 'There are forms. You fill out the forms. You do not simply crash into Romania on a Tuesday.'

Moscow issued a statement denying the drone was Russian, then denying it was a drone, then denying Romania exists, before ultimately releasing a photograph of the drone wearing a tiny cowboy hat with 'Property of Ukraine' written on it in what experts described as 'suspiciously fresh marker.'

The drone itself was unavailable for comment, as it is currently embedded in what used to be Apartment 3B, which residents say at least means the building now has 'an open-plan concept it never asked for.'

Repairs are estimated to cost several million euros, though local contractors note that timeline may be extended due to the drone 'still being kind of a presence' at the site and 'frankly making everyone uncomfortable.'

At press time, a second drone was spotted circling the building, and neighbors were seen placing a sign outside reading 'NO VACANCY,' which experts say will almost certainly not work.
