Simi Valley Fire Politely Asks Residents To Leave Before Redecorating Their Homes In 'Burnt Chic' Aesthetic

SIMI VALLEY, CA — A fast-moving brush fire known as the Sandy Fire swept through Simi Valley Monday, reportedly giving residents what witnesses described as 'very reasonable notice' before completely reimagining their properties in a scorched minimalist style that the fire itself called 'my best work yet.'

'We asked it to stop, but honestly, it seemed really passionate about what it was doing,' said evacuee Darren Holloway, 54, watching from a safe distance as the fire confidently consumed his tool shed. 'You have to respect that kind of commitment, even if it's destroying everything you own.'

The fire, which officials say burned approximately 836 acres, reportedly told neighbors it had been 'inspired by a vision' after watching too many home renovation shows on cable television. Multiple structures in the area were described as having received the full Sandy Fire treatment, which experts say involves complete structural deconstruction and a signature charcoal color palette that is, quote, 'very in right now.'

Cal Fire spokesperson Linda Marsh confirmed that crews were working to contain the blaze, adding that the fire had been 'unresponsive to negotiations' and had ignored multiple cease-and-desist orders issued by local homeowners associations.

'We tried explaining HOA regulations to it,' Marsh said at a press conference, visibly exhausted. 'The Sandy Fire does not care about HOA regulations.'

The fire is expected to continue its unsolicited renovation work through the week, though meteorologists say incoming winds may convince it to expand its portfolio into neighboring counties. The Sandy Fire could not be reached for comment, as it was very busy.
