Trader Joe's Recalls 37 Million Pounds of Food After Customer Complaints That Meals Weren't Crunchy Enough

MONROVIA, CA — Trader Joe's issued a massive recall of nearly 37 million pounds of frozen foods Tuesday after customers complained that their Mandarin Orange Chicken and pork dumplings weren't providing the satisfying crunch advertised on the packaging.
"We really thought we were onto something revolutionary," said Trader Joe's spokesperson Janet Fishwick, nervously adjusting her Hawaiian shirt. "Our focus groups kept saying they wanted more texture in their frozen meals, so we partnered with local artisanal glass blowers to hand-craft premium silica fragments into every bite."
The recall affects products from Trader Joe's, Kroger, and Ling Ling after reports surfaced that customers were experiencing "unexpectedly intense mastication challenges" and "surprise dental visits."
"I thought it was just really authentic Asian cuisine," said disappointed customer Brad Hensley of Tampa, who had already worked his way through three bags of the enhanced dumplings. "My dentist says I need two crowns, but honestly, the flavor profile was incredible. Very mineral-forward."
Trader Joe's had initially marketed the glass-infused products as part of their "Extreme Foodie" line, targeting customers who found regular frozen meals "insufficiently challenging for their sophisticated palates."
"We're looking into alternative texture enhancers," Fishwick added. "Maybe gravel, or small pebbles. Something with less liability exposure."
The company is offering full refunds and complimentary dental X-rays to affected customers.
