Helena Bonham Carter Quits 'The White Lotus' After Discovering Hotel Lacks Sufficiently Gothic Architecture, Demands Castle with Moat

HOLLYWOOD - Helena Bonham Carter has dramatically departed from 'The White Lotus' Season 4 after discovering the luxury resort location contains zero haunted towers, insufficient cobwebs, and what sources describe as 'an alarming amount of natural sunlight.'

According to insider reports, Carter arrived at the filming location expecting to find a suitably decrepit manor house with at least three secret passages and a family cemetery, only to be confronted with what she termed 'this ghastly paradise of tropical cheerfulness.'

'Helena took one look at the pristine beaches and immediately demanded to know where the fog machine was,' said an anonymous crew member. 'She kept asking if we could install some gargoyles on the palm trees and replace the infinity pool with a murky bog filled with mysterious bubbling sounds.'

The final straw reportedly came when Carter discovered her luxury suite featured floor-to-ceiling windows instead of her contractually required 'dimly lit chambers with heavy velvet curtains and portraits with eyes that follow you around the room.'

'She kept muttering about how the ocean was 'too blue' and the sand was 'insufficiently ominous,'' another source revealed. 'She also requested that all seashells be replaced with tiny skulls and that the hotel staff wear period-appropriate medieval garb.'

HBO has announced they will recast the role with someone 'more amenable to locations featuring less than 47% Gothic ambiance.' Carter was last seen boarding a horse-drawn carriage bound for a suitably creepy Victorian mansion, reportedly muttering about 'people who don't understand proper atmospheric gloom.'

The show's producers are now desperately searching for an actress willing to work in environments containing natural lighting and tropical flora.
