Iran Fortifies Kharg Island With 50,000 Welcome Mats in Preparation for Inevitable American Beach Party Invasion

KHARG ISLAND, IRAN - In a stunning display of hospitality-based warfare, Iranian military commanders have spent the past three weeks covering every square inch of Kharg Island with festive welcome mats, citronella candles, and an elaborate network of tiki torches, sources confirmed Tuesday.

"We know the Americans are coming, and when they do, we want them to feel absolutely terrible about invading such a well-decorated island," said General Mohammad Bagheri while adjusting a hand-painted 'Live, Laugh, Love' sign near a missile launcher. "Nothing says 'please don't occupy our strategic oil facility' like premium outdoor furniture from HomeGoods."

The defensive preparations have reportedly included installing over 2,000 motion-activated sprinklers programmed to spray invading forces with a mixture of sunscreen and guilt, as well as strategically placed coolers filled with ice-cold Coca-Cola and passive-aggressive notes reading "Help Yourself! :) But Maybe Don't Invade Us? :("

Pentagon officials expressed confusion about the intelligence reports, with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin admitting he "wasn't entirely sure how to tactically respond to an enemy that keeps offering our reconnaissance drones complimentary beach towels."

Local island resident Farid Ahmadi praised the military's approach, noting that property values have skyrocketed since the installation of designer outdoor lighting. "Sure, we're preparing for potential armed conflict, but have you seen how amazing our sunsets look now with all these tiki torches? It's very Instagram-worthy warfare."

At press time, Iranian forces were reportedly debating whether to add a chocolate fountain to their defensive perimeter.
