Matthew Stafford Signs Extension After Team Promises He Can Keep Using The Good Parking Spot Through 2027

LOS ANGELES — In what league insiders are calling the most consequential parking space negotiation in NFL history, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford agreed to a one-year contract extension Monday, with team officials confirming that the deal's primary sticking point was never the money, the playing time, or the offensive scheme, but rather exclusive access to Parking Spot B-7 at the SoFi Stadium training facility.

'Matthew came to us with a very simple ask,' said Rams General Manager Les Snead, gesturing toward a laminated piece of paper that read 'STAFFORD — DO NOT TOW' taped to a small orange cone. 'He wanted the spot through 2027. We said yes. Everybody went home happy.'

Stafford, 36, reportedly spent three weeks in tense negotiations during which he refused to discuss yardage incentives, roster bonuses, or playoff performance clauses until the parking situation was 'locked in writing and notarized.'

'I've been in this league a long time,' Stafford told reporters while slowly backing his enormous pickup truck into the space with the confidence of a man who knows nobody will challenge him. 'I've seen guys lose their spots to a visiting punter's cousin. That's not happening to me. Not again.'
