UFC Announcer Bruce Buffer Accidentally Declares Winner Based on Who Had Better Post-Fight Snacks

LAS VEGAS - In what experts are calling "the most Buffalo-esque moment in UFC history," legendary octagon announcer Bruce Buffer was forced to sheepishly recall fighter Tyrell Fortune from his victory celebration after accidentally declaring the wrong winner based entirely on whose corner had the most appealing refreshments.

Buffer, known for his dramatic "IT'S TIME!" catchphrase, reportedly became mesmerized by opponent Marcin Tybura's impressive spread of organic orange slices, electrolyte-enhanced water, and what appeared to be homemade energy bars wrapped in gold foil.

"I saw those beautiful citrus segments glistening under the arena lights and just assumed this was the work of a champion," Buffer explained while hiding behind his signature tuxedo jacket. "Meanwhile, Fortune's corner had generic sports drinks and what looked like gas station beef jerky. In my 30 years of announcing, I've learned that superior snack curation is usually a dead giveaway for athletic superiority."

The mix-up occurred immediately following the judges' decision, when Buffer dramatically pointed toward Tybura's corner and bellowed his famous declaration, apparently hypnotized by a particularly appetizing banana that had been cut into perfect medallions.

Fortune, who had actually won by unanimous decision, was halfway through his post-fight interview when officials frantically waved him back into the octagon for a do-over announcement.

"I was confused why Bruce kept staring at Marcin's fruit bowl during my victory speech," Fortune said. "I mean, my corner had Cheetos, which I thought was pretty solid, but apparently I need to step up my refreshment game."

UFC President Dana White has announced that all future events will feature a mandatory "snack evaluation period" to prevent similar incidents, while Buffer has enrolled in a remedial course titled "Judging Athletic Performance vs. Judging Charcuterie Boards."
